SAP HANA is a RDBMS. It stores pile of data in memory rather than on the traditional hard disks. It is used to accelerate data processing, business processes and also analytics. One of significant features of HANA is its SAP HANA Studio. This article is going to explain you the Attribute view of HANA.

To use SAP HANA Studio, you need to model information view. There are three types of information view. One of them is Attribute view.

  • We can create this view on master tables.
  • Here we can take one or more tables.
  • In case of multiple tables we used to join them with coordinates.
  • We will get selected tables in data foundation tab and we need to use output pane to create structure of view.
  • In output pane we have two folders.
  1. Attributes (fields from tables in Data Foundation)
  2. Calculated Attributes (customized objects to perform calculations on attributes which are available in attribute folders in output pane by using functions, operations provided by SAP)

In attribute folder we must take at least one key attribute.

  • In attribute view we can create two types of hierarchies –
  1. Level Based Hierarchy: Based on level
  2. Parent –Child Hierarchy: Here we can create hierarchy for key field in attribute folder.
  • In Parent Child hierarchy we must provide parent for key attribute of attribute view.
  • We can create either calculated attribute / hierarchy based on attributes under attribute folder in output.
  • Validate & activate.
  • Our Attribute view will appear in our package as well as _SYS_BIC Schema.
